Oil spill in Ottawa prompts call to provincial environmental agency

The Spills Action Centre, an organization that monitors and assists with pollutant spills, has been contacted.

A provincial environmental agency has been notified after a large oil spill at an industrial site on Cyrville Road.

Ottawa Fire Services' (OFS) hazmat team was called to the area between Labrie Avenue and Star Top Road shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 23.

The Spills Action Centre, an organization that monitors and assists with pollutant spills has been contacted.

Under the Environmental Protection Act, it is the duty of the owner to clean up a spill and restore the natural environment to its original state.
