Ontario is reporting 1,122 COVID-19 hospitalizations on May 16, an increase from numbers reported one day earlier.
On Sunday, May 15, the province revealed 1,024 people in hospital with the virus. A provincial spokesperson added Sunday that technical issues caused delays in updating some of Ontario's web pages over the weekend.
The province is reporting 159 people in intensive care units (ICUs) on Monday, an increase from the 151 people reported in ICUs yesterday. Health officials stated not all hospitals reported updated figures on the weekend.
Two more virus related deaths were reported today, while 1,061 new COVID-19 cases were revealed on Monday, though access to PCR testing is limited for certain groups. The scientific director of Ontario's panel of COVID-19 advisers has said multiplying the daily case count by 10 would give a more accurate picture.
Ottawa Public Health is reporting 17 people in hospital with COVID-19 today, no people in ICUs and one new death.
