OPH investigating possible COVID-19 exposure following Montreal to Ottawa rideshare

Ottawa Public Health is looking for the individual who drove the rideshare on Wednesday, November 24.

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is investigating a possible exposure to COVID-19 following a rideshare from Montreal to Ottawa.

According to OPH, a person who tested positive for COVID travelled from Trudeau International Airport in Montreal to Ottawa’s Barrhaven area on Wednesday, November 24.

The rideshare left the airport at about 8:30 p.m. using a private service during the person’s contagious period and arrived in Ottawa at about 10:30 p.m.

As part of the COVID case management and contact tracing process, OPH follows up with close contacts of individuals who have tested positive for the virus.

If OPH is unable to identify the close contact of an individual who has tested positive, a public release may be issued to reach those contacts, the local health agency explained.

The male individual who picked up a single ride-share passenger from Trudeau International Airport in Montreal for transport to Barrhaven in a white car is advised they were likely exposed to COVID-19.
