OPP seek witnesses to collision that sparked house fire near Portland

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for witnesses to a weekend single-vehicle collision and subsequent house fire in the Village of Portland.

The Rideau Lakes Detachment of the OPP are continuing their investigation into the crash which occurred shortly after 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26. 

Police said a passenger vehicle left the roadway and struck a house located at 2719 Highway 15, and as a result of the collision, a fire ignited and consumed both the home and the vehicle.

The 73-year-old driver and the 85-year-old passenger were both rescued from the vehicle and taken to hospital with minor injuries. 

The building, which police said is a total loss, was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
