Diane and Jacques Richer are $1 million richer after winning the Maxmillions Oct. 18 Lotto Max draw.

Diane and Jacques Richer of Orléans won a Maxmillions prize worth $1 million in the Oct. 18 Lotto Max draw.

The Richers have been married for 43 years, and have been playing weekly lotteries for decades.

“I checked my ticket on my phone after the draw then jumped up and said to my husband, ‘I think we just won $1 million dollars!’” said Diane while at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG ) Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up the winnings.

After double checking the winning numbers, their disbelief turned into joy.

“I was shaking and had goosebumps,” added Jacques.

They plan to share their winnings with their children, purchase a new car and travel.
