Orléans South-Navan candidate hopes to bring fresh perspective to community

By CityNews Staff

Yvette Ashiri is running in the upcoming municipal election on the belief that all residents should be served equally.

Ashiri told The Sam Laprade Show on Sept. 20 that she ran in the 2020 by-election and decided to run again this year to bring positive change and a new perspective to the Orléans South-Navan community.

She’s served the ward for over 16 years, participating on the board of hospitals, school councils and advocating for economic prosperity and a society free of violence.

Improving public transit, boosting the local economy, and increasing programming available for youth are among her top priorities. She added that she wants to ensure Francophone activities are accessible and offered as equally as English ones.
