ORNGE air ambulance responds to serious crash on Mitch Owens Road at Ramsayville

By Alex Black

One person is being treated for injuries after a collision between a truck and a van, northeast of Greely.

Around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) contacted Ottawa Fire Services (OFS), to report a crash near the intersection of Mitch Owens Road and Ramsayville Road.

When OFS arrived on scene, it was confirmed the occupants of the van were trapped inside the vehicle.

Within five minutes of arriving on scene, fire crews had freed one person and began providing care for injuries sustained by another person who was still trapped.

Officials say the van was heavily damaged in the accident and specialized equipment had to be used to remove the injured person, who was then taken into the care of the Ottawa Paramedic Service.

OFS and paramedics worked together to prepare a landing site for an ORNGE air ambulance.

Mitch Owens Road is closed in both directions between John Quinn and 8th Line Roads, while Ramsayville Road is closed south of Rideau Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
