Ottawa City Council approves Château Laurier addition design

By CityNews Ottawa

It was far from a unanimous decision, but owners of the Château Laurier are finally getting the go-ahead to construct an addition onto the back of the iconic hotel.

City council voted 14-10, Wednesday, February 24, in favour of the latest design, which will see a 10-storey tower and an 11- storey tower built at the back of the hotel, connected by a two-storey base, built using limestone.

This was the sixth version of the design, submitted by the hotel's owner Larco Investments, since 2016.

A heritage permit with a four-year expiry date is expected to be provided to Larco.
