Ottawa plumbing business supporting residents unable to leave home amid pandemic

An Ottawa-based plumbing business is lending a hand to Ottawa residents amid the pandemic, after the community showed it support during its time of need.

Francis Plumbing and Heating is helping out by providing groceries or running other errands for people unable to leave their homes due to the pandemic.

The business has been providing the assistance since COVID-19 arrived in Canada's capital 13 months ago, by offering the help to those registered in its email database.

General Manager Kay Francis says she isn't exactly sure how many people they have helped since launching the initiative.

“But I know if I send out my e-blast, it goes out to about 10,000 homes in Ottawa,” Francis explains to CityNews Ottawa. “I usually end up with a couple hundred email replies every time I send out a blast.”

She adds, after members of the community came together during the flooding in 2019 to help sandbag the Francis' home, they were so grateful and jumped on the opportunity to give back.
