Ottawa Public Health reporting two new COVID-19 related deaths, slight drop in hospitalizations

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting two new COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The health unit releases COVID-19 updates twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The latest OPH update shows that 25 people are in hospital with the virus, while two people are in intensive care units (ICUs). 

In its last update on Friday, Jan. 13, OPH reported six COVID-19 deaths, 26 people in hospital and four people in ICUs.

OPH is also reporting 142 new COVID-19 cases since its last update, and four new outbreaks in institutional settings. 

The health unit said on social media on Jan. 17 that its continues to see a rise of respiratory illnesses in Ottawa.
