Ottawa Public Health to start making automated calls to home care patients eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

Elderly residents in Ottawa neighbourhoods at higher-risk for COVID-19 can expect to get a phone call from Ottawa Public Health (OPH) soon.
Starting Saturday, OPH said it will be using automated phone calls to contact Ottawa’s home care patients who will soon be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
The call will include instructions to complete the screening and consent information.
Given the limited supply of the vaccines, OPH said immediate access to all residents getting chronic home health care is not possible at this time.
The city and OPH explained they will undertake a phased approach, starting with pop-up clinics in communities experiencing higher rates of COVID-19 transmission.
The first pop-up clinics will open Friday, March 5 to this group of people.
The first of these communities include:
- Ledbury
- Heron Gate
- Ridgemont
- Emerald Woods
- Sawmill Creek
- Riverview
- Heatherington
As we begin preparing for larger shipments of vaccine, staff have been working tirelessly to make sure our community clinics will be up and running when the vaccine arrives.
