Ottawa sees single digit increase in new COVID cases with no new or ongoing outbreaks

Ottawa is on its third day of reporting new COVID cases in the single digits — this time just hovering above the zero mark.

Ottawa Public Health reports one new case in the city on Sunday, down from Saturday’s six.

It’s the third day Ottawa’s reported a single-digit increase in new cases.

This brings the city’s total number of cases since the pandemic started to 27,775.

And again, there are no new or ongoing outbreaks happening anywhere in the city.

Active cases remain stagnant at 44, which is up slightly from yesterday’s 43.

One person remains in hospital, but ICUs continue to be free of COVID patients.

There are no new deaths, keeping the local death toll tally at 593.

The rate of COVID cases reported in the last seven days per 100,000 has dipped slightly to 3.9, while the percentage of positivity in the community remains at 0.5 per cent.

According to the Ontario government, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit is reporting two new cases of the virus, down from yesterday’s four.

Meanwhile, Renfrew County and District isn’t reporting any new cases as Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District has subtracted one case from its overall count.

There are 172 new cases reported across Ontario on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic started to 549,328.

Two new deaths were recorded, bringing the provincial death toll to 9,313.

And in the last 24 hours, 144 more cases have been resolved.
