Ottawa Valley woman facing criminal charges following fraud allegations in minor hockey league

An Ottawa Valley woman is facing several criminal charges following fraud allegations in a local minor hockey association.

The Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched the investigation in March 2022 into allegations of fraud involving a local minor hockey association in the Township of Madawaska Valley, about an hour away from Pembroke.

OPP said 46-year-old Wanda Malone of the Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township has been charged with Criminal Code (CC) offences including fraud over $5,000, money laundering, forgery and use of a forged document.

She was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14, 2022.
