Ontario's recently ramped-up COVID-19 restrictions have forced organizers to cancel the 2022 TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest.

The event was going to take place January 28-29 and February 3-5.

"However, in place of live, in-person concerts, we are offering you a selection of virtual concerts from our 'In the Vault Series,'" organizers announced in a written statement.

The concerts, recorded over the last few months, are described as "a tribute to Canadian talent, virtuosity and diversity." The specific concerts chosen for the virtual events have not yet been announced.

Organizers say plans are still going ahead for this summer's flagship in-person event of the 2022 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, from June 24 to July 3, in Confederation Park.

Anyone who purchased a ticket for the winter event can hold onto them, to use them at this summer's festival, or request a refund when contacted by organizers.
