A 41-year-old Ottawa woman is facing a number of charges after a nearly 13-hour police standoff on Hochelaga Street.

Ottawa police were called the area of Montreal Road and Aviation Parkway at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 16, after reports of a woman who allegedly threatened to kill her neighbour.

Officers enacted a shelter in place for nearby residents and asked others to avoid the area, while the investigation was underway.

At 11:35 p.m., the woman surrendered peacefully to police and was arrested without incident.

Deanna Rotondo, 41, of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Uttering death threats
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Using a firearm to commit an indictable offence

A search warrant was executed Monday and a weapon believed to be used during the incident was recovered by police.

The accused is expected to appear in court Tuesday.

Ottawa police would like to thank the public for its cooperation in this matter.
