Ottawa’s COVID-19 Testing Taskforce extending testing options throughout weekend

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Anyone looking to get tested for COVID-19 will now have more testing options over the weekend as some assessment centres are extending their hours and adding additional appointment slots.

In an announcement Friday, the Ottawa COVID-19 Testing Taskforce said that a number of changes have recently been made to build more testing capacity in the city.

This includes the CHEO Assessment Centre at Brewer Park Arena which is actively working to have 450 to 500 in-person testing slots each day.

“We will continue to seek out solutions, test as many eligible residents as possible per day and return timely results,” the taskforce said in its statement.

The Moodie COVID-19 Care and Testing Centre is also extending its hours and will remain open this Saturday, as well as on Saturday, October 2 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Ray Friel COVID-19 Care and Testing Centre will be open for COVID testing this Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Drive-Thru Assessment Centre on Coventry Road has doubled its hours and is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., while the Temporary Pop-Up COVID-19 Assessment Centre at McNabb extended its operations until at least September 29.

Additional appointments are added on a day-to-day basis, so the taskforce encourages those who are seeking testing to check online regularly for updated availability.
