Ottawa’s French Catholic school board will continue to notify parents and staff about any COVID-19 cases that happen at schools under their board.

The Conseil des Écoles Catholique du Centre-Est announced in a letter to parents on Friday, January 21, that it will be following in the footsteps of the Ottawa Catholic School Board by continuing to inform the school community about cases of the virus.

The decision to continue reporting, the school said, is to ensure open and transparent communication.

Parents will also be notified of positive cases on school buses.

The school board said this will start as of Monday, January 24.

“Please inform the school if your child receives a positive result from a rapid antigen test carried out at home or following a CPR test,” the school board’s letter said, translated. “Your child's principal will continue to notify appropriate school community upon receipt of information confirming a case at school or on a school bus as of Monday, January 24;

Please inform the school if your child receives a positive result from a rapid antigen test carried out at home or from a CPR test.”

It added that management will only communicate information on cases that have been reported to it.

The names of people who have tested positive will remain confidential and the people in question, will, have to isolate themselves.
