Pembroke resident facing fraud charges

A Pembroke resident is facing several fraud-related charges after a criminal investigation was launched in May 2022.

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating after a resident reported fraudulent activity on an online marketplace. A total of four victims were identified by police during the course of the investigation. 

As a result of this incident 34-year-old Samantha McLaughlin has been charged with the following offences:

  • Fraud under $5,000 – four counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – four counts

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Jan. 24, 2023.
