Perley Rideau to honour veteran residents with sea of Canadian flags for Remembrance Day

The Perley Rideau Foundation is looking to fill the front lawn outside the veterans' health centre's Rideau building with a sea of miniature Canadian flags for Remembrance Day.
Most of the centre's 150 veteran residents live in the Rideau building and the mass of flags will be visible outside of their windows to remind them of the community's thanks, and to honour their service.
The foundation's goal is to have 2,000 flags on the grounds for November 11.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Ultimately, whether together or apart due to COVID-19, the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre says it knows the purpose of Remembrance Day will not be forgotten in Ottawa. It is hopeful that residents will take the time to honour the brave men and women who served Canada and made sacrifices for the country.
The Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre has dealt with three separate COVID-19 outbreaks this year, with the most recent one ending on October 26. In those outbreaks it saw 73 positive cases in its facility and 13 of its residents die due to the virus.
