The Ottawa Police Services (OPS) say two people were arrested overnight in the ByWard Market by officers on patrol.

OPS say the officers approached a vehicle with two people inside. They noticed the driver had what appeared to be a handgun on his leg.

Police say the man was arrested after he refused to exit the vehicle. Police also allegedly seized a loaded 9mm pistol and cocaine.

A 22-year-old Gatineau man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested and charged.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, July 2.
