Province launching campaign with influencers to encourage Ontarians to stay home

By CityNews Ottawa

The province is launching a new campaign to encourage people to stay home.

The Ford government has engaged with some local influencers to help spread the message — and kicking off the initiative is Rick Mercer, with a rant.

Mercer says the message is simple: “stay home.”

As part of the campaign, Ontarians are asked to use the hashtag #StayHomeOn.

Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Lisa MacLeod says in safer times her job is to encourage people to travel the province, but adds now is not the time for that, and people have a responsibility to stay home, stay safe, and save lives.

MacLeod says athletes, artists, musicians, and other influencers, including the Toronto Raptors, have signed on to help spread the word.
