By Mike Vlasveld

Eleven Ottawa Redblacks have been named to the CFL's East Division all-star team.

After finishing first in the East this regular season, the Redblacks are well-represented on all three sides of the ball on the all-star squad, including sweeping all three special teams positions.

Redblacks who made the all-star team include:

OFFENCE

– Running back William Powell – Had a career high 1,362 rushing yards in 16 games this season, along with six touchdowns.
– Receiver Brad Sinopoli – Recorded his fourth-straight season with at least 1,000 yards with 1,376 while setting the CFL record for completions by a Canadian with 116.
– Receiver Greg Ellingson – Also had his fourth-straight thousand-yard campaign, with 1,086 yards on 91 catches, along with five touchdowns.
– Offensive lineman SirVincent Rogers – The veteran left tackle was his usual steady presence anchoring the Ottawa offensive line, starting 17 games.
– Offensive lineman Alex Mateas – After making the move to centre last year, Mateas solidified his grasp on the role in 2018, while playing in 17 games.

DEFENCE

– Defensive lineman A.C. Leonard – A key off-season signing for the Redblacks, Leonard had a career-high 49 defensive tackles and six sacks this season.
– Defensive back Jonathan Rose – The third-year Redblack had 45 defensive tackles and was tied for the league-lead with five interceptions.
– Defensive back Rico Murray – The first-year Redblack had 55 defensive tackles and was tied with Jonathan Rose with five interceptions.

SPECIAL TEAMS

– Kicker Lewis Ward – Turned heads throughout the CFL as the rookie Redblacks kicker set the all-time professional football record for consecutive field-goal completions, finishing the year with 48-straight.
– Punter Richie Leone – Leone's accurate leg helped the Redblacks dictate field position for much of the season. Leone was also a key part of Lewis Ward's record year as the kicker's holder.
– Returner Diontae Spencer – The speedy receiver was at a threat every time he was kicked, finishing the year with 849 punt return yards and  815 yards on kickoff returns.

The Division All-Stars were selected by members of the Football Reporters of Canada and CFL head coaches.

The CFL league-wide all-stars will be announced in December.

These all-stars will be in action on Sunday, November 18 at 1 p.m. when they host the East Division semi-final at TD Place.
