Ottawa Public Health (OPH) says a rumour that a child died after receiving their COVID-19 vaccine is entirely false.

"All sources report that no child in Ottawa has died from a COVID-19 vaccine," said OPH on Twitter. "We have reviewed our records of adverse events following immunizations (AEFI) and connected with partners at CHEO and the coroners to confirm this information is false."

OPH is also reassuring the public that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe.

"Misinformation has direct, harmful impacts on the health of our community and we take these matters very seriously."

According to OPH's dashboard, 35 per cent of kids in the five-to-11 age group have received at least one dose of their COVID-19 vaccine.

At least 88 per cent of residents who are 12 years and older have received both required doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 91 per cent of residents in that age group have received at least one dose.
