Senators signing former Canucks forward Tyler Motte to one-year, $1.35M deal

The Ottawa Senators are signing forward Tyler Motte to a one-year, $1.35 million deal, the team announced on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Motte, 27, played the majority of last season with the Vancouver Canucks, producing seven goals and eight assists in 49 games. The Canucks then traded him to the New York Rangers for a fourth-round pick at the trade deadline.

In New York, Motte did not register a point in nine regular-season games, though he scored twice over 15 games during the Rangers' run to the Eastern Conference Final.

In 269 career games, the pesky, five-foot-10 forward, who can play both centre and wing, has 35 goals and 27 assists.

The Motte signing marks yet another move by general manager Pierre Dorion and the Senators in what has been a transformative summer for the club. Motte joins Alex DeBrincat, Claude Giroux and Cam Talbot as new players set to join Ottawa's roster for the upcoming season.
