Smiths Falls police charge mom and son following counterfeit money investigation

A search warrant was executed at a home on Centre Street where counterfeit funds, all in U.S. currency, were recovered.

The Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) had charged a mother and her son in connection with the possession of counterfeit money.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, the SFPS located and arrested Wanetta Generoux, 48 of Lanark, and her son Joel Cross, 29.

Police later executed a search warrant at a home on Centre Street where additional counterfeit funds, all in U.S. currency, were recovered.

Both face charges of possession of counterfeit money, while Cross faces an additional charge of breach of probation.

The pair was held for a bail hearing.
