Some OC Transpo double-decker buses return to service following safety inspection

By Alex Black

Twelve OC Transpo double-decker buses are back in service after a safety investigation that was launched earlier this week.

On Monday, August 9, a double-decker bus left the roadway and ended up in a ditch on Carling Avenue near Herzberg Road.

The next day, the transit company pulled 19 buses from the road for safety inspections (all the same model as the bus involved in the incident).

A memo from General Manager of Transportation Services John Manconi says the investigation found that a component of the steering system required adjustment.

“Working with the manufacturer, inspections have progressed well, and we have been able to confirm that 12 buses passed the inspection and were returned to service,” Manconi writes.

The remaining seven buses still need to be adjusted and will return to service in the next couple of days.
