Special Advanced Voting starts in Ottawa

By Jenn Pritchard

Starting Thursday, you can cast your ballot in the Ottawa municipal election.

The City of Ottawa is opening its Special Advance Voting, which will run through Sunday.

The program was run as a pilot project during the 2014 municipal election, with three locations set up for voters to cast a ballot from anywhere in the city over three days.

The Special Advanced Voting period means, you can vote at City Hall even if you live in Barrhaven.

All you need is your voter notification letter and a piece of identification with your name and address, or just your identification.

Special Advanced Voting will be done from October 4 until October 7 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at these locations:

– Ben Franklin Place
– City Hall
– François Dupuis Recreation Centre
– Greenboro Community Centre
– Minto Recreation Complex, Barrhaven
– Richcraft Recreation Complex, Kanata

All of the ballots will be collected on memory cards and uploaded to a secure server until 8 p.m. on election day, October 22.

Regular advance voting in your riding is Friday, October 12.
