By Anil Jhalli

Hockey's ultimate prize is making its way to Petawawa later this month.

Shawn Allard, the skills coach for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL), is bringing the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Petawawa on Aug. 30.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning to capture the organization's third Stanley Cup victory, and the team's first since 2001.

Allard grew up in Petawawa and played minor hockey for the Petawawa Patriots along with his seven brothers.

On Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., residents will have a chance to see the Stanley Cup at the Petawawa Civic Centre. Tickets will be sold for the event, with all proceeds going towards a new zamboni for the local arena.

Tickets are $10.
