Orléans' first micro-brewery celebrated five years in business with a celebration on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Stray Dog Brewing Company opened its doors in July of 2017, and Marc Plante, one of the co-founders of the east end brewery told The Sam Laprade Show on Sept. 13 that he and co-owner Justin MacNeill had this passion to open up a small business in the community they grew up in and love.
The two men both started out independently as home brewers, and met through a fraternity of other local zymurgy enthusiasts in the Ottawa area. Their common passion for well-crafted beer, cool indie-music, and a desire to chase a dream.
"We took the risk to understand what the reward would be," said Plante. "Life is to short to wonder 'what if'."
Plante said that while they are celebrating five years, it's adifficult to believe due to the fact the business partners lost two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, where they were doing their best to offer their services and deliver beer to their loyal customers.
"We are just happy to celebrate with a community that has really supported us," said Plante.
The celebration included performances, food, activities and of course, beer, for people to enjoy.
