Strike continues for Carleton University support staff

By OttawaMatters Staff

A strike by support staff at Carleton University has entered a third week.

In a tweet sent by CUPE 2424 overnight, the union says the latest efforts to negotiate were unsuccessful and that administrative, technical, and library workers will be back on the picket lines this week.

The strike continues at the entrances of campus on Bronson Avenue and Colonel By Drive.

OC Transpo buses will not cross the picket line, and will be dropping passengers off on Bronson Ave.

Traffic delays can be expected.

The main sticking point in contract negotiations have been pension benefits.

Meantime, federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, will address CUPE 2424 members and students when he joins workers on the picket line at Bronson Avenue Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.

On Monday, the union and Carleton's Graduate Students' Association will host a student appreciation barbecue.
