‘There will be no extension’ NCC issues warning to RendezVous LeBreton

By OttawaMatters Staff

The Minister of Canadian Heritage is making it clear, the National Capital Commission will not be extending the deadline for current LeBreton Flats redevelopment partners to sort out their differences.

This warning comes one day after Ottawa Senators Owner Eugene Melnyk was spotted on Parliament Hill.

Hon. Pablo Rodriguez made an announcement, Wednesday.

“The NCC was very clear — there's a deadline for February 28 and there will be no extension [for the RendezVous LeBreton group],” he explained. “So I really hope that the private partners agree on something, and they have a few days to do so, because it's an important project for the region.”

Melnyk and Trinity Development Group Founder John Ruddy have been in mediation regarding the massive redevelopment project, as lawsuits launched from both sides made it clear the two were not willing to work together.
