Tom Cochrane excited for ‘special show’ at Bluesfest on Saturday

By Mike Vlasveld

Tom Cochrane says his headlining slot at Ottawa's RBC Bluesfest is going to feel a bit like a homecoming.

He tells The Sam Laprade Show on Wednesday, September 22, that his band cut its teeth in Ottawa. Cochrane also talks about his special connection with the victims of the Humboldt bus crash and their families, through his song 'Big League,' and how 'Lunatic Fringe' still relates to the world today.

“I wanted to be a journalist when I started out,” says Cochrane. “I wanted to be a foreign correspondent. I thought there was nothing more noble than going to a foreign war-torn country, putting yourself in danger so you could report back the truth, back home.”

The Canadian music icon takes the Bluesfest stage at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
