Two dogs rescued from Osgoode fire

By Jenn Pritchard

Ottawa fire crews, responding to smoke coming from a home in Osgoode on Thursday evening, discovered some unresponsive dogs inside.

The call came in from neighbours about smoke coming from the Blackcreek Road home around 6:15 p.m.

Once on scene, firefighters were able to rescue the dogs, and using special Canine Resuscitator Masks, were able to revive them.

The fire, which started in the kitchen and spread to the attic, was deemed under control by 7 p.m.

No human injuries were reported as no one was home at the time of the fire.

A family of five, plus the dogs Brandy and Q, have been displaced.

Damages are pegged at $125,000 and the cause is under investigation.
