Two people have been assessed by paramedics after reports of a chemical odour in one unit of a multi-unit residential high rise building in Centretown.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) hazmat crews responded to a home on Metcalfe Street, between Gladstone Avenue and McLeod Street, on Thursday, September 23.

Hazard technicians were able to identify the mixture of two household chemicals as the cause of the reaction.

The apartment building had to be evacuated while crews ventilated.

OC Transpo buses assisted with sheltering residents until they were permitted back inside.
