Two young people charged after collision on Highway 17

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two young people after receiving a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17.
On Nov. 19 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Renfrew OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the Horton Township.
It was reported that a driver tried to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed, lost control and drove off the road and into the ditch. Two people were observed exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Shortly thereafter, officers on scene located the two young people and they were subsequently arrested and charged.
Two 16-year-olds from Kingston were charged with:
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
- Careless driving
- Glass G1 licence holder-unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Class G1 licence holder- carry front-seat passenger
- Person under 19 year- possess cannabis
