Protesters gathered outside Ottawa City Hall Sunday afternoon to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Several demonstrators were draped in blue and yellow flags of Ukraine as they braved chilly temperatures.

The demonstration was organized by the Ottawa chapter of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has entered its third week. Thousands of soldiers on both sides are believed to have been killed along with many civilians.

At least 2.5 million people have fled the country, according to the United Nations refugee agency.

It’s the third weekend in a row during which Ottawans gather to show support for Ukraine.

  • On Sunday, February 27: Several hundred protesters gathered outside the Russian embassy before marching to city hall.
  • On Sunday, March 6: Dozens of demonstrators waving the yellow and blue flags of Ukraine gathered on Parliament Hill.
