The uOttawa Central Administration has agreed to match all donations raised by a student led fundraiser up to a total of $25 thousand dollars.
The 'Black Expression: Listen. Speak. Amplify' virtual fundraising event is being held by the uOttawa Black Student Leaders’ Association and the University of Ottawa Students’ Union in solidarity with their Black student community will raise money for Black Canadian organizations.
The event will showcase various performances and talks from students, along with presentations from the organizations being fundraised for.
The uOttawa student groups are raising money for:
- Justice for Abdirahman Coalition
- Black History Ottawa
- Canadian Anti-Racism Network
- Congress of Black Women Canada, Ontario Region
- Black Artists Union
The pay-what-you-can event is taking place July 18 at 4 p.m. on the Black Student Leaders’ Association Facebook page and the University of Ottawa Youtube channel.
