Upper Ottawa Valley RIDE checks result in 12 drivers charged

By CityNews Ottawa

Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have concluded their Festive 'Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere' RIDE campaign, taking place from Nov. 17, 2022, to Jan. 2, 2023.

During the campaign Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers conducted 194 RIDE checks and charged 12 drivers who either tested over the legal limit or refused to be tested.

Seven drivers were also issued roadside licence suspensions for registering within the 'warn range' on a roadside screening device.

Though the Festive RIDE campaign has come to an end, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says it is committed to making roadways safe and RIDE programs will continue throughout the year.
