UPDATE: Baby dies in Buckingham fire

Flames started in a vehicle, but spread to a nearby building, sending five to hospital.

Gatineau firefighters tackled a blaze early Saturday morning that sent five to hospital.

Calls came in just before 2 a.m. for a vehicle fire on Palluck street in the Buckingham sector of Gatineau.

The fire started in a car, and spread to a nearby building where there were five occupants inside.

A 31-year-old man and 12-year old child were taken to hospital with 'minor to serious burns' but have since been released, according to the Gatineau Police.

A 28-year-old woman and two young children, a 20-month old child remain in hospital with life-threatening burns and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police confirm a 3-month-old baby has since passed away.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
