Volunteer Ottawa's Volunteer Expo is returning in 2022.
The event has not been held live and in person since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Volunteer Expo is taking place on Friday, Sept. 23 at Saint Paul University located at 223 Main Street from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
"There's going to be 50 not-for-profit organizations and it's a chance for people to find out what they do, and what volunteer opprtunities are available," said Volunteer Ottawa executive director Christine Trauttmansdorff on The Sam Laprade Show on Sept. 13.
Trauttmansdorff noted that with the event being held in September, it's a chance for high school students to start thinking about their 40 hour volunteer requirements for graduation, but hopes that students understand the benefits of volunteering.
"The things young people can gain from volunteer opportunities goes way beyond checking a box on the requirement for graduation," she said. "There's chances to gain work experience, start a new network with other youth who are interested in the same causes and gain some references."
