Voters heading to polls on advance voting day

By Anil Jhalli

The first of two advance voting days for the 2022 municipal election is currently underway.

Some voters headed out on Oct. 7 to cast their ballots for this year's municipal election.

Residents who plan on voting in advance will need to bring a piece of identification in order to vote while bringing a voter information letter that was previously mailed out is also recommended to speed up the process.

Municipal elections manager Michelle Rochette tells CityNews what voter turn out looked like for the special voting days held last month.

“Today (Oct. 7) is basically a ward based election model so residents can vote in their ward,” she said.

Electors can verify when and where they can vote on their voter notification letter or by using the Where Do I Vote? tool on ottawa.ca/vote.

Those looking to vote can find their polling stations on the City of Ottawa's website

Advance polling runs until 8 p.m. There will be another opportunity to vote in advance on Oct. 14.
