Residents in Kanata North are organizing a walk to show love and support for their Muslim community members.

The event, called Walk for Peace Kanata North, is being organized in the wake of Monday's tragedy in London, Ontario, in which four members of a Muslim family were killed by a man in a pickup truck.

In respect for COVID-19 restrictions, two walking times have been established for the evening of Sunday, June 13, and a series of neighbourhood routes are in the works. Volunteers are still needed to help organize walking routes in different neighbourhoods.

Community members are invited to leave their homes at either 5 p.m. or 7:40 p.m. and make their way to the route closest to their home and then walk along it for one hour, in either direction.

At 8:40 p.m., the group says participants are asked to pause to reflect on the tragic events of this week.
