Accessible water wheelchairs are now available at all open Ottawa beaches.

The City of Ottawa says Mooney’s Bay, Petrie Island, and Westboro Beach are offering water wheelchairs until August 30.

The equipment will be free to rent between noon and 6:30 p.m., daily.

Mooney's Bay and Westboro beaches each have one water wheelchair for rent, while Petrie Island has two.

Users are required to have their own attendant to push the chair and assist with transfer, as there is no lift on site.

For availability, please contact beaches@ottawa.ca or call:

  • Mooney’s Bay: 613-248-0863
  • Petrie Island: 613-824-5704
  • Westboro: 613-792-3875
