What’s open, closed on Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is this Sunday, and that means several closures and schedule changes on the following Monday.

November 11 is not a statutory holiday in Ontario but it is a federal one, meaning federal government offices and Ottawa City Hall will be closed to observe Remembrance Day on Monday, November 12.

Retail
Most retail businesses are required to close until 12:30 p.m. on November 11. Businesses that are open 24 hours will close from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

LCBO stores will operate on reduced hours on Sunday. The Beer Store will be open.

Transit service
OC Transpo will follow a regular Sunday schedule on Sunday, November 11, and a regular weekday schedule on Monday, November 12.

War veterans who wear their medals and/or uniforms can ride free on OC Transpo, Para Transpo and STO (Société de transport de l’Outaouais) services during National Veterans' Week, from November 5 to 11. 

Banks
Most banks will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Mail
There will be no mail delivery on Monday.

City services
Ottawa City Hall and all seven client service centres, including the Government Service Centre located at 110 Laurier Avenue West, will be closed. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, November 13.

There will be no scheduled changes for green bin, recycling or garbage collection. Multi-residential and curbside garbage containers will be collected on Monday, November 12.

The Trail Road waste facility will be open on Monday, November 12 and will follow regular business hours.

The City's Provincial Offences Court, including the courts located at 100 Constellation Crescent, will be closed on Monday. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, November 13.

The City's 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters.

Indoor pools and fitness centres will be open for public swimming, fitness and public skating, with modified schedules. Details can be found on the city's website at ottawa.ca.

Most registered programs at community centres and arenas will be cancelled, but some exceptions will apply.

All branches and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed.

City-run child care centres will be closed.

Parking
All City of Ottawa parking regulations and restrictions will apply.
