There's a special show happening at Yuk Yuk's Ottawa, to celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities.

Comedian Michael Lifshitz tells CityNews, Yuk Yuk's recently became more accessible.

"I only moved to Ottawa in 2013... Since I lived in this city, October 14 of this year was the first time I could actually take my wheelchair into a comedy club in this city," explained Lifshitz.

The comedian has been performing on local stages for 15 years.

"I basically lost a bet with a friend and had to try stand-up comedy, and then I thought it was a good opportunity to use the comedy to educate people about people with disabilities in a fun way."

The show is set for 8 p.m., Friday, December 2. International Day of People with Disabilities is Saturday.

Lifshitz joined The Sam Laprade Show on Thursday:
