Ottawa 67’s lose to Owen Sound 4-1

By Anil Jhalli

Despite outshooting their opponents by a margin of 33-19, the Ottawa 67's couldn't muster up a victory.

Corbin Votary stood tall in goal for the Owen Sound Attack, stopping 32 of 33 shots he was peppered with by a relentless 67's team in a 4-1 win on home ice on Sunday, Jan. 22.  He was named the game's first star.

Henry Mews scored the lone goal for the Barber Poles, who have now lost two straight games.

Mews snapped an eight-game pointless skid and along with Will Gerrior, led Ottawa with five shots on goal.

After a 1-1 tie, Rockland native and Montreal Canadiens prospect Cedrick Guindon broke the tie at the 7:40 mark of the second period, which proved to be the game winner.

Even with the loss, Ottawa remains atop the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) standings with 64 points.

The 67's look to get back on track when they return home on Friday, Jan. 27 when they host the London Knights.
