Ravens players selected in CEBL draft

Carleton Ravens men’s basketball players Lloyd Pandi and Alain Louis were selected in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) draft on held on April 19. 

Pandi, who played in 2020 with the Ottawa BlackJacks, was selected ninth overall by the Niagara River Lions. He was named the CEBL U Sports player of the year for the 2021-2022 season, and played with Niagara in 2021. Pandi recently announced he was leaving Carleton, and declaring for the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft. 

Louis, a Montreal native who played for the BlackJacks in 2020 and 2021, was selected second overall by the expansion Montreal Alliance. He was named the U Sports Final 8 MVP after the Ravens won the national title earlier this month. 

“This draft class is exceptional," Mike Morreale, commissioner and chief executive officer of the CEBL said in a release. "U Sports programs continue to develop some of our country’s best players, and we can’t wait for these rising stars to play alongside top professional talent from around the world. We hope that opportunities like this continue to help forge future pro basketball stars who can represent Canada domestically and on the world stage."

The CEBL will begin its fourth season on May 25, and now boasts 10 teams.
