Ottawa Senators head coach D.J. Smith has been named an assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation's World Hockey Championship in Finland next month.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 13 until May 29. Former Ottawa 67's head coach and current bench boss of the Arizona Coyotes André Tourigny is also serving as an assistant coach for the team. Tourigny spent some time as an assistant coach with the Ottawa Senators.
Claude Julien, former head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, the Boston Bruins and the New Jersey Devils, was named the team's head coach. Shane Doan also returns as general manager (GM) after serving in that role at the Olympics. Rick Nash, a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ front office, will make his Hockey Canada management debut as an assistant GM.
