Since the age of six, all Candice LeRae ever wanted to do was perform in a WWE ring.
And at the age of 37, 31 years later, she's living that dream.
"It kind of blows my mind that I am sitting here, and just living that dream I had," said LeRae on The Sam Laprade Show on Feb. 2. "The fact I am living this dream, it really doesn't seem real to me."
In May of 2017, LeRae made her televised in-ring debut for WWE on an episode of NXT.
She participated in a number one contender's battle royal for the NXT Women's Championship, but was unsuccessful in her attempt.
In July of the same year, LeRae was part of the Mae Young Classic tournament where she made it to the quarterfinals and was subsequently eliminated by Shayna Bazler.
On Jan. 16, 2018, WWE announced that LeRae had signed a contract with the company.
"I love being described as the scrappy underdog," said LeRae. "It's kind of been the story of my life, overcoming odds that just seem insurmountable."
What made her WWE signing more special was she had the chance to work with her husband, fellow WWE superstar Johnny Gargano, who many consider the greatest performer in the history of the NXT brand.
LeRae gave birth to the couple's first child. Quill, in February of last year.
She came back to company in September of 2022, officially joining the Raw brand.
"We are in a very special time in wrestling," she said. "Women can have their cake and it it too. I just had a baby and I have this amazing life with him and my husband and I can come back to this amazing career that I thought I would have to sacrifice to have family. I am just grateful that I have the best of both worlds."
For the first time since 2010, Monday Night Raw returns to Ottawa on Feb, 20 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
LeRae said she looks forward returning to Ottawa and Canada, and seeing all the passionate WWE fans.
"Super pumped to be coming back to Canada," she said.
