$75K reward offered as family of Nepean murder victim pleads for help finding killer

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is offering a reward of up to $75,000 for information leading to an arrest in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Egal Daud.

The 30-year-old was found shot dead in a vehicle on Northview Road, in Nepean, on February 11, 2018.

“All known witnesses were spoken to at the time and all public tips were followed up by our detectives,” says Sgt. Chris O’Brien of the Homicide Unit. “Today, we are asking those who have information and have not yet spoken to police to help us identify Egal’s killer. His family needs to know.”

Homicide detectives have learned that Daud was going to meet acquaintances on February 5, and no one from his family heard from him after that day. He was reported missing to police.

The Daud family provided the following statement:

“Egal was a gentle soul and kind heart. The loss of our brother and son has left our family in unimaginable pain. Pain that has been exacerbated by the fact that the person who did this has not been found and held accountable for this heinous crime. We appeal to anyone and everyone who has any information – be it minor or major – to please come forward and help us bring those responsible to justice.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477.
